Of course, they're all written differently. And people still wonder why having only hiragana would be a terrible idea.

I wish I had transferred more things to DVD ten years ago before selling a lot of the tapes I had. The same ones are probably still on eBay. but they will have degraded even if they weren't played.

Although, when I see the word fist in certain visual novels, they instead use kobushi. CONFUSING ENOUGH FOR YOU?

Oh wow. I remember Macrovision. All is well until you plug in another VCR, then "warble-warble-stretchy-screen"

Now I wish that Japanese was a language that could be learnt in South African schools.

Don't you have private tutors? Someone who can come to your house and stuff and teach you alone. That's how I learned, and because of it, I wasn't held back by classmates or other stuff and could go at my own pace. A school here offers to teach some basic grammar and maybe a hundred kanji in half a year. In half a year I learned several hundred and went over most of the necessary grammar with my teacher.

Hardly a weapon when I can just skip over it and not read it~

Although, I must mention that even though it's possible to learn on your own (look at Elin), not everyone is like that, and while there are some really good teachers, there are some really bad ones as well. So it's sort of a gamble.

Food is more important nowadays, given the cost of food nowadays. Bread costs about R6 (don't know what it is in , milk costs R16, cat food costs R45...
    Everything's expensive in South Africa

The little kanji (?) I know is thanks to playing cards.
The few words (sensei, iya, hai, and some more) are from reading a single book during my four-week-absence.
Also, I can't look at someone who isn't here.

If anyone manages to laugh at that, then I guess I do have a weird way of making jokes or whatever

    Yep.
Maybe you dreamt of it? Or maybe you watch financial news? Or maybe you visited South Africa without remembering?

It might be because of the few South Africaners I've known.

You're absolutely right. I'll be honest and admit that I know nothing about the conditions in South Africa, but yeah, investing in a language course is sort of a luxury.
