Default epsxe final fantasy 9 font looks blocky

I'm using epsxe 1.70 and although the graphics look really great the font is really blocky and I can't get it to look smooth. I've changed around all the options and tried for many hours but I can't figure out how to fix this or is it normal for my 1920 x 1200 resolution? I have OCD so it's bothering me soo much I can't play unless I fix this. Here is a picture of my video plug in and settings. I have a good computer so my specs isn't the problem.

and here is a picture of Final Fantasy 9 in game.

I would really love some help with this.

    I see.
Have you tried going through the options for off screen drawing.
I have done that with some of my games that require a lot of text, and it works wonders.
But since I don't use Pete's Open GL 2.9, you would have to experiment.

Which video plug in do you use? I just thought Pete's Open GL 2.9 was the best.

It is for high end computers.
Don't change it because of my advice, just tweak the setting a bit.
Just try raising the setting for Off-Screen Drawing, then come back and tell me what happens.

OK I'm gonna say something that sound stupid, but change the off screen drawing to two.

    Damn.

I know it was some setting that tweaked and smoothed the font......
    I'm sorry I wasn't much help.

Seeing the options on your video plugin, change the render mode. This is more related to 2D sprites like the menu and health bars. Also, try changing the stretching to HD settings. This should get the font to stop drawing at native PS resolution.

Have you tried just changing the Texture Filtering option under Textures to the first listed "Extended" option (i.e., not the one that says unfiltered 2d sprites)? Seems to work for me, at least on the D3D plugins.

I just tried most all of those options and many other different configurations. The font is still extremely blocky. Should I try using another video plugin? if so which one?

The only other ones I can think of off the top of my head that work well with 3D games are Petes D3D plugins and his other OpenGL one (not the OpenGL2 one you're using now), maybe try one of those?

Here's a link to a whole list of his plugins you can try; http://www.pbernert.com/html/gpu.htm
