Specifically, they're a replay of Alpha with some classic (Inspectors), Advance (Axel, Lamia, and company), and Elemental Lords (Cybuster) mixed in, and if you manage to swing OG Gaiden (untranslated), Reversal. You don't need to play any of the other games, and aside from a couple random shout-outs to other games (Gilliam), not all of which are SRW-core, there isn't much linking them sequentially.

But i like to see how games advance over time. Until i beat the first level of the very first one i doubt i'll play any others.
