Default Final Fantasy VII Remake für PS3???

Long awaited but not been released yet...I heard that Square-Enix is been working on a Remake of the great FFVII for the PS3!
What do you think about it? Would it come or not?

Yoshinori Kitase, Director and Producer of many FF titles makes us hopes that it would been possible to release a FFVII remake.
He tells in an interview to the british official XBOX 360 Magazine:
"Would you ever remake some of the earlier games in the series simply because you like the setting?"

"In the transition between XIII to XIII-2, it was quite easy because obviously we kept all the data and the engine - we had just finished using them so it was almost like they hadn't gone cold. The technology was already warm and ready to use, so it was quite good. Also within the team, we still had a feel for the game, it was still new to us, still lingering with us, so we were ready to move on to the sequel.

But if we were to take one of the past Final Fantasy titles and make a sequel to it, I think that would be a lot more challenging because when they were on PlayStation and PlayStation 2 their actual game volume was a lot bigger, kind of. Graphically they weren't as advanced as they are now, but there were lots of towns and worlds and cities and whatever. So if we were to recreate the same kind of game - sequel or not - with the same volume, but give it a much higher level of graphical quality, it would us take three times, four times, even ten times longer to make such a game. So making a sequel for an old game would be a lot more challenging but it's possible."

They aren't working on it AFAIK and it's probably not gonna come out any time soon, if ever.

There were talks about an English version of Type-0 but I don't think anything came of it. I'd say the chances of it happening are somewhat slim at this point, but it might still happen, just look at Xenoblade's US release. I played the Japanese version and thought it was fairly interesting (though not a masterpiece or anything), so it'd be nice to see it in English.

And with them developing games like Final Hallway XIII I can't see this happening anytime soon =/ granted I'm not entirely sure how keen I am on the idea of them remaking FF7 at all; they'd have to market it to an entirely difference audience than they did in 1997, meaning changing up the gameplay mechanics among other things (or else depend on die-hard fans to make up a significant number of sales).

tldr; I can't see a remake ending up being exactly what the fans envision due to a different audience.

"I think that the problem with this video is it is highly derivative of many popular bands within the genre. Although when viewed on its own merits, it does have a deeper groove. However what it has in groove, it lacks in originality. One can't help but be reminded of such bands as Pearl Jam, White Zombie, Suicidal Tendencies and other bands that bear the mantle of so called "Alternative Rock". One is even reminded of Lorie Anderson when she wore curlers. Hehehmhm! This video speaks less to the heart and more to the sphincter. In closing, I think Korn would do well to learn more from -"

    this

and because of this, making an FF7 remake seems rather impossible if this is the reason why they won't attempt to make one yet

This is a rant and most of what I say is just speculation to what may happen in the future.

Square shuts down anything dealing with a Chrono Trigger update or another game in the series, so I see no reason why they're going to listen about a Final Fantasy 7 remake, especially considering the amount of time they would have to spend making it, and deciding on whether to change things for a newer audience or keep the game almost the same for fans of the original. It's definitely possible, but due to people losing faith in Square in the past few years, there would have to be good advertising and actually giving information about the game out before its close to finished, and maybe doing something like giving out a blu-ray copy of Advent Children out with a preorder for the game, and considering the amount of time it would take to make, it would have to appear on the next generation of consoles, which probably means more prodution costs. I'm even doubting that there is going to be a Kingdom Hearts game on the current consoles, which is dissapointing.

I'm not sure about the validity of a PS3 remake for Final Fantasy VII, but I do know they are re-releasing it on the PC with achievements and such. It seems the core game will stay the same with the same graphics etc., only there is a new feature for boosting your stats to make the game easier.

its not a remake its just the original one with some achievements and a mode call characters booster and its just for pc. Square-Enix (Tetsuya Nomura) say they wont make a remake a long as they don't make a final fantasy as good as the 7 one. The interview was on Famitsu so its sure

    Agreed.

    Cash grab.

Maybe some more EP traffic for people saying "oh hey I remember that game" for smart people to just emulate instead of getting in on this garbage.

I'm aware of all that which is why I linked to the article. I wasn't saying it was a remake, I was pointing out they are re-releasing it on PC and maybe that's why the PS3 remake rumor was going around. Maybe OP had heard about the PC re-release and thought that was a sign of a PS3 remake who knows. A lot of companies say one thing and do another. For instance one of my favorite recent games is Dark Souls, they claimed the game would get no DLC and would ship as a complete product, but now it's getting DLC. Not that I'm complaining mind you, the more Dark Souls the better in my opinion. Either way my point is made.
