if you want to join me on there sometime (just got back on today after i dunno, months of being away from it maybe?) the password for my games is omnite. main reason is i despise the ad bot ocean that is battle.net's diablo 2 chat and private games seem to be the only real solution to the problem.

also, anyone who brings a ad bot into one of my private games will likely see this message from me: everyone please use /ignore on *insert ad bots name here*, i am NOT letting that trash in and pollute the chat.

that said, feel free to join me any time. oh almost forgot, i play on this server: Diablo II USEast-USA-9, though i could always switch to another if its easier for some people (depends on if i can connect to the games there)

Solution to avoid spambots. Set level difference to 2 less than your current level. level 18 set difference to 16 and so on. It prevents lvl 1 spambots pretty well.
I also play, In fact, my and the Great Doctor Robotnik are planning to do a LP of it together.

Well, i still play Diablo 2 with the Lord of Destruction expansion, but i havent played it in a while so i lost my level 83 barbarian (its a darn shame), anyway, ill be glad to join you if you wish.

sure, unfortunately the expansion is a download i've had on hold for quite a while so it'll have to be vanilla D2 :/ still fun though, was about to get on actually (heh, this looks like it'll be a active thread )

was just looking around to see if there was somehow a solution after so many years and YES, finally, a solution to the adbot ocean.

Diablo 2 Anti-Spam Filter List Tutorial

1. Create a Game on Battlenet and type (without quotes) "/filtermsg www"
This will create a file called ignorelist in your diablo 2 directory
*Note: If you already used the Filter Option, file should be already generated in your diablo 2 directory*

Make sure Diablo 2 is Closed Before Editing the File !

2. Go in your Diablo 2 Directory.
For Windows 7, it should be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II
For Windows XP, it should be in C:\Program Files\Diablo II
Find the file named "ignorefilter" and right-click on it and Click Open
*Note: If you cannot find the file, redo step 1.
If you cannot open the file, open Notepad and try opening the file with it.

3. Select Notepad and click Ok

4. You should now be able to see what you added with the FilterMsg command.
Copy and Paste the Following Code inside the file and Save it.

5.Close the file and start Diablo. Join a battleNet game and type(without quotes) "/ignorepersist"
Make sure it's Enabled
-> The list is not perfect, you can add your own Keywords to it. Either Edit it or use /Filtermsg KeyWord
-> Don't forget that 0 & O, I & l, W & VV looks the same in Diablo.
-> You can test your filter by typing the blocked keywords. It will hide Spammers messages but also yours (Please note that people will see the message but you won't see it on your screen) ! You won't be able to Type any websites with this filter on.

6. Problem Saving the File ?
1) Go to Start Menu -> Accessories -> Right-Click on NotePad and Run it As Administrator.
2) In notepad, Click on File -> Open and go to your Diablo 2 directory.
3) Selected "All Files (*.*) in the Drop List"
4) Open ignorelist file.



I know alot of this is old but the list HAS been updated. And from the looks of it people STILL ARNT DOING THIS... But once you do... its a whole new game

gonna test it now, if it works then we can at long last play diablo 2 without the endless spam of ad bots ^.^

edit: SUCCESS lol no more ad bots, unfortuantely it also blocks me from typing website links but i can deactivate temporarily for that probably.
