Default Running Backup PS1 games on PS2

I heard that if you try to run the Ps1 games that have more than 1 disk and use something like swap magic or breaker pro. When it comes to the 2nd disk that it will not work to swap them cause the game will not notice the change so you will only be able to play the first disk. Anyone ever try to see if that was true? I wanted to play legend of dragoon backup but hate to play through first disk to find out that I can no longer continue on.

I think I get what you're saying. You're worried that when the game comes to the point to switch discs it may not work. I think I ran into this with Star Ocean: The Second Story. What I had to do was save at that point, extract my save file using a USB stick and uLaunchELF. Then convert the save with PC software, pass the disc change point with an emulator, save, convert back, then load save back into memory card. A frustrating process to be sure. Almost enough to make me wonder why I wouldn't just use an emulator for the whole game. But I like the couch in my living room and like playing through games without that emulator "jank".

    BUT!

Some games allow you to save before you have to load up the second disc. I can't remember which ones off the top of my head, but I know you can do the swap trick with the second disc at that point and the save file should load up allowing you to continue.
