Default Dynasty Warriors 3 Emulation Problems

    Here's the deal;

Today I decided I wanted to play some Dynasty Warriors 3 for the Playstation 2. However, my Playstation 2 has been broken for years. I turned to my good friend emulation and made an ISO out of my disc. I tried to play it on the PCSX2 0.9.8 r4600 emulator and it started up fine. Once in gameplay however my framerates dropped to about 5 FPS. This was just not cuttin it for me, so I decided to downgrade to an older emulator thinking that there may be compatibility issues. I executed the ISO on the PCSX2 0.9.6. and it started fine just as the other one did, but would hang up when I tried to start a battle and the emulator would close.

I tried every configuration possible on the PCSX2 0.9.8 r4600 emulator and didnt really mess around with the 0.9.6 emulator.

If anyone could shed some light on this problem please post any comments or tips you may have. I will gladly post any further specifications and/or configurations to help diagnose what the problem is here.

what are your computer specs have you ever ran pcsx2 before the emulator takes a lot of system resources to run at full speed in particular it is taxing on cpu's and gpu's

    PCSX2 System Requirements

    Minimum

    Windows/Linux OS
CPU that supports SSE2 (Pentium 4 and up, Athlon64 and up)
GPU that supports Pixel Shaders 2.0
    512mb RAM

    Recommended

    Windows Vista 32bit/64bit
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3.2ghz or better
    GPU: 8600gt or better
1gb RAM (2gb if on Vista)
note the minimum is to run the emulator but you will get nowhere close to full speed without the recommended.

First of all, thank you for replying.

Yes, I have ran PCSX2 with only one other game which was Final Fantasy X. I had gotten it to run smoothly at 60 FPS throughout mostly the whole game.

    Here are my computer specs-

Processor; AMD Athlon (tm) II X4 640 Processor 3.00 GHz

    RAM; 4.00 GB (3.75 usable)

    System; 64-bit operating system

Display Adapter; ATI Radeon HD 4200

If you would like anymore information I would be glad to give it to you.

I get 5 FPS when I'm in a battle against the Yellow Turbans.

Probably because of the full of chaos scene.

Try the latest SVN version of PCSX2 http://buildbot.orphis.net/pcsx2/ind...rm=windows-x86
    And enable the speedhack.

Check whether GSdx is set to Native, and set the EE Cyclerate to 3 on Speedhacks.
You might want to use latest SVN as well, with MTVU hack enabled.

Anyway, DW games are very demanding on PCSX2, where the game tend to slowdown a lot on certain events, or when involve lots enemies.

I downloaded the latest SVN version of PCSX2 from the link that you provided and when I tried to unpackage the contents I received an error.

"The archive is either in unknown format or damaged"

I noticed that in the "platform" category it says 32bit. does it matter at all that im running 64bit? I tried re-downloading the .7z file and the same error occurred. Any advice?

As to Meganova's post; I have GSdx set to native and I tried setting the EE cyclerate to 3. The speedhack had almost no effect. Perhaps the game is just too CPU intensive.

Doesn't matter. 64bit can run both 64/32 bit program, but make sure you have Visual C++ 32bit installed on your computer.

Instead of downloading straight from the link above, navigate to the actual page first and then start download it from the top link(r5099).

I installed Visual C++ 32bit. I downloaded both the first and second versions on the top of the list (r5099 and r5098) and they both were giving me the same error, "The archive is either in unknown format or damaged"

How did you download it? Both links seems to be working fine at my end.

Total size for the r5099 should be around 4Mb or so, if you got less than that, then try to redownload it again using download manager(if you're using browser's built in downloader).

I downloaded it initially with my browser's built in downloader. I tried using download manager and the same error occurred. The file is showing as approximately 4.05Mb.

Okay I found a way to stop the error. I tried the r5100 and r5099 builds and they both would not even play the intro sequences. I tried it on both boot CDVD full and boot CDVD fast.

Okay, it seems that noone has any further advice to my situation. So, I would just like to ask one more question. Has anyone been able to successfully run Dynasty Warriors 3 on PCSX2 and play through the game?

Are there any errors on the console window during the intro?

Also, post your memory card save here, see if I can reproduce to problem.
