Question Help with d3dx9_38.dll is missing error message

I recently got snes9x ver.1.53 win32, but i get "d3dx9_38.dll is missing". can i fix this problem without updating directx. i am afraid this old laptop i use
will not work properly after. i don't know much about computer systems. is this unwarranted fear? i am running vista home service pack 1, on a sony vaio model = pcg 7z2l. it has an intel pentium dual t2310 at 1.47GHz with a gig of ram. Thanks in advance to anyone who may be able to help. also let me know if you need additional information pertaining to the issue, i'm new at posting on forums. thanks again.

Just install DirectX. It won't stop your laptop from working.
