We're equal opportunity haters though, don't feel special.

After realizing that I completely forgot about keeping the gold pistol with me throughout the entire game, I just had to replay the last four chapters in DNF.

Oh well. I missed some Ego caps anyways.

Well, considering the original xbox weights sixty-two stone, I'd say it wouldn't be worth it.

You got here a year after me. So this will be your 9th.

I think Zaladane beat me here by about a week or so...

Note to self: don't shoot rockets at Octobrains. They throw them back at you and kill you.

Really? I didn't expect much out of it, but I really love it now.

I never visited a gas station or a diner or a gun shop, even though there were tons of those in the world. I never had the need to. I'm sure I didn't get to use some sort of somewhat cool gun or something... but again, they really didn't serve a purpose. That's the sort of thing that I didn't enjoy about it -- there was lots of great stuff there (the story was definitely entertaining, and I did enjoy the ending, even though even I could see it coming from a mile away), but it didn't feel like a cohesive package. I think if they had expanded on it a little bit more, added an actual reason to go visit the different shops, maybe offered a few side missions (different jobs you could do for different people in each family, for example), I would have enjoyed it a lot more. That would have given me a reason to explore the city. Otherwise... there were parts that I didn't see until I went around to collect all of the Wanted Posters. Which, again, was an entirely arbitrary and stupid thing to add to the game, because they did nothing.

For the price that I picked it up for (I think it was $15... might have been $18, can't remember), it was a worthwhile game, and I got my $18 out of it. I would have been disappointed if I had paid more than $25 for it, though.

I actually do agree with you on those points. I love how the world is built up, with the whole 40's/50's theming, but I do feel that some more exploration would have been great. In the early parts of the game, when you walk around and people meet you on the street and have dialogue with your character, it's awesome. But you never really go back to your old neighborhood at all, and you sort of lose a sense of the city after you get back from the jail part. I do really enjoy it still though.

I would say it's a good game. It definitely had a lot of untapped potential, but what was there was great. I've recommended it to a couple of people who were looking for a cheap but fun game to play, because it does deliver on that aspect of it. I just wasn't as impressed as some of the other people I've heard talk about it, who said it was a great game. Not in my opinion.

Then again, I was kind of iffy about it from the get go because I don't normally enjoy those kinds of games. I did like the 40s/50s setting and how they incorporated all kinds of little in-jokes, and I thought the music was fantastic and the environment felt authentic and cool, but I've steered clear of GTA and GTA-like games for a reason... they don't appeal to me that much. I'm sure that factor didn't help my overall impression of it, since it generally isn't a kind of game that I enjoy.

I know Ray isn't here, but didn't he say he had trouble getting the air hockey trophy in DNF? 'cause I just got it first try... Lots of people were saying it was one of the hardest trophies in the game to get...

No I didn't. I had an original account, asked to be a mod, god ridiculed and denied (for good reason), and then created Darkplanet (puling a few admin and mods over there to help out). During the Darkplanet Ages, this forum crashed or I was pruned or some shit because there are still posts in the database of my original account, but it's a guest.
