I'm partial to hoping for a zombie apocalypse. But then that wouldn't really be an end to the world... Just society as we know it.

During my four week absence I read books - all fictional - and one of them actually had something about this.
Apparently the Aztecs predicted that the end of their fifth Age would be 2012, and that it would be an earthquake that will end the world.
Pity they couldn't predict Cortèz...
