What model PSP and what cfw? It shouldn't be a problem.
Its 6.39bpro b9 and what exactly would a game update be.
Oh yeah the model 2001,I saw upgrade after you press square and was wondering what that was.

After you press Square while highlighting the eboot?
Is this eboot homebrew or an actual game?

Oh okay, when you do that, it'll most likely say you don't need to because your at firmware *insert super high number here*. Reason this happens is that, some people may become curious and just press update. So they practically prevented you from updating so that you don't lose your CFW =]
But if you do press it and they didn't put that in, the PSP will ask you are you sure you want to update.
So all in all, if you were to update, you would lose your CFW but the developers saved your CFW so that no mistakes happen =P
