He's dead.

Isn't that how the intro to Homefront starts??
Oh...dear. The rumours have been going around for a little while that the recent rise in brinksmanship in the peninsula last year (the destruction of the Cheonan, the bombardment of Yeonpyeong) was due to Jong-un trying to deal with power plays by providing a decisive hand against "external threats", but if it's finally gone off, our biggest hope is probably going to be that things don't completely break down. The last thing we need is civil war in a nuclear power.
Dead? I didn't even know he was
Il.
RIP
Good night my prince.
Actually, I was thinking more the land mine, Atomic Annie, or Davy Crockett approach to thermonuclear warfare. Yes, it's probably too heavy for any missile the DPRKs could manage, but they can still do a decent amount of damage to themselves.
Not that it's likely to happen. It looks like Kim Jong Un has settled in, and indications from China that the purges last year sharply reduced his greatest threat's support base, which means that it's probable that the Kim extended family will remain as they are.

Dictators gonna dictate. The prospect of power changing hands is interesting because it rarely ever happens (in circumstances like this, obviously in war torn parts of Africa it changes all the time and even more importantly they can't launch nuclear weapons). I'm going to try and follow this fairly closely which is new for me because while I am a student of history I don't actively follow world news extremely close.
On an unrelated note I forgot just exactly how small this guy was until I saw a bunch of pics and vids today.
