Hey Dan(?), tell me something. Are there day-labor agencies in the UK? If so, check with them to find out if they have work in the fields you are looking for. These are good options for people in the US when this work comes up because, while you don't get the promise of fulltime work, you get some experience and money.

If you can find one nearby, utilize it. That's what I'm doing for the time being. The good thing about them is that they often have work (mostly not work you want to do, but work) and you choose when you're available to work.

If the company you're 'rented' to likes you, often they'll take you on for a daily or weekly thing. Like, I was working part-time at a window company doing clerical work. They let me go because the company couldn't afford to keep me on as a M-F 4hr person (they brought me on because the business was picking up, but then it slowed down shortly after I was brought on), but I'll be back there on Monday for a full 8hrs.

Indeed...good all around. I did similar for many years when I was younger. We always called it 'day labour', though the 'contract' could last for weeks/months.
Two of the more memorable gigs: Packing stuffed toys at a teddy bear factory, and another at an 'adult bookhouse'.....the latter involved myself and the other employees, mainly old ladies, packaging-up 'gift baskets' consisting of magazines, raunchy novelties, and sex toys.
(The warehouse was on the outskirts of NYC, and we would often get 'celebrity'-sounding names/addresses for the adult items....we would all have a good laugh.... "R. DeNiro", "Trump", former NYC politicos, etc....heh....)

No, you need to extract your DVD key, and if you're doing that, you might as well just flash the DVD drive since it's the exact same process.
