PC: New game won't run on 6 month old machine.
Console: New game runs on 6 year old machine.

Well that's the problem with PCs ain't it. Go with a console and your good for 7 years or more.

Though if I built one that could run everything out now perfectly I'd be happy for years as there would be a huge backlog of games to be playing

actually thats a myth. (to me)

Get decent parts and your good for ages. for instance my gf's rig has a HD3870 in it she still playing games happy that are new releases and thats like 3 Graphics Cards generations back.. like 07

Me im still rocking a HD4870 (Late 08), core 2 quad and 8gb of ddr2 ram and im still maxing / near maxing games and im on a single card,

So if Pixie got a say Decent i7 an nvidia 570 and like 4gb of ddr3 id say thats good to go for 3+ years... the problem im finding is our hardware is too far beyond the software right now

I gave up spending serious money on PC's ages ago.
Now I just wait until I can upgrade from old stuff that's free or next to nothing, except for HDD's and the random bit of extra RAM.

I still have a huge backlog of console games here I haven't played out anyway.......and I don't even have a PS3, PSP or NDS

I've got a PSP, but I've played everything worth playing.
