It's square, but good. The rpg mode is an action rpg which is very addictive. The fighter portion is okay but the arenas are small and the graphics are bleh. And there's mini games too. It's not a blending of genre you actually choose what you want from the menu. Download it and try it

I like the Tales Series, I'll see if I can't find a cheap copy, and Grandia also.

this isn't non square but if you can find final fantasy anthology cheap pick it up It's old school square as in super nintendo games with cutscenes added for PlayStation.

The only problem with those are the load times though (I mean it's not terrible or anything) and even in the regular game there's the odd slowdown and loading between screens which the snes versions didn't really have.
