Default epsxe and Final Fantasy IX help, PLEASE

Okay, so I've downloaded and redownloaded the FFIX iso from many different sites, and I can't get it to work. I've tried epsxe versions 1.5.2, 1.6.0, and 1.7.0 and still have no idea what to do. I have programs for .zips, .7zips, and .rars. I've converted to .iso's. I've done everything I can think of, and can't figure it out. Can someone please help me with a step-by-step guide? I think I'm just missing some crucial step, but...no luck so far in figuring out just what it is. I'm trying to help a friend, and we're both sick of it at this point. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. (And yes, I do own an original copy of the game, but I've had it for years and it's non-playable at this point. Yay siblings!) Thanks again

if you downloaded from the main site Emuparadise .me you get an ecm file if so here's what to do.PAL versions of the game are copy protected I have instructions on dealing with that below as well.
ok after you unzip it the file you get comes out as .bin.ecm

you need to unecm it with this.

    www.emuparadise.org/PSX/ecm%20tools.rar

just open the ecm tools folder and drag the game to unecm and drop you will get a command window after which your file will be .bin not .bin .ecm .bin is a playable file

also PAL versions of the game are copy protected so you will either have to patch or play the NTSC-U version for english

we have a list of patches here http://www.epforums.org/showthread.p...atches-Archive

they should work just by unziping to the epsxe patch folder

If you need anything else let us know and we will try to help you in anyway we can.

Oh man, thank you so much! I don't know why it wouldn't work when I tried that yesterday, but it's working now. Thank you so much, sir! Also, Auron was a pimp.

BTW, are there any particular plugins I should be running for the least amount of problems? I'm currently running with:

ePSXe 1.7.0 (I've heard that 1.5.2 is the best for FFIX?)
Video: Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.77 (Set to Fast)
Sound: P.E.Op.S. DSound Audio Driver 1.9
CDROM: ePSXe CDR WNT/W2K core 1.7.0
    Bios: SCPH1001

as was posted in another thread all the final fantasy games work fine with all versions of ePSXe, the one that i found looks the nicest is OpenGL 2.9 set to "nice"
    *Computer Specs*
    Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit
Processor: AMD FX 8350 Processor (8 CPUs), ~4.1GHz
    Memory: 16GB RAM
    Graphics Card: AMD Radeon R9 8GB GDDR5

When I try to run FFIX with OpenGL 2.9, I get messages saying "Missing render-texture extension!" and "No pixel format available!" Huh?? (You'll have to forgive me, I'm mostly computer illiterate, and new to emulation lol)

my guess is that you have an older video card that doesn't support pixel shader 2.0 depending on your graphics card type I would recommend the following nvidia cards pete's d3d dx6 plugin or ati cards the one you have it should run set to nice if you experience lag take the vram off auto and set it to it's maximum also make sure you have special game fixes on and the one checked for FF9

as for sound I either use the default or eternal spu.

the reason many people suggest 1.5.2 for FF9 or just multi disk games in general is the disk swapping in 1.7.0 is broken but that can be fixed by mounting the game with a virtual drive like daemon tools lite and playing via run cd.

1 post is enough, please use "Edit Post" (lower right of every post you make)

Patches go in the patches folder not the root folder of ePSXe and it's only the EU versions of FF that are copy protected

Auto patching may not be featured in 1.5.2 I honestly don't remember I just play everything in ePSXe 1.7.0... because I can

If you insist on using ePSXe 1.5.2 though you can apply the patches directly to the CD images with PPF-O-Matic and load the apropriate CD Image and patch and apply it

Then you should be able to use ePSXe 1.5.2 directly
