It wouldn't be perfect, but it would solve a lot of the problems you are having with the hardware.
You mount the xbox in the boot of your car (or maybe it's called a trunk in the US) and use a power inverter.
I remember people many years ago mounting old PC's in their car boot to use as media players (before mp3/wma car CD decks were widely available and/or cheap).

I doubt anyone will be successful in emulating the Xbox console for a really portable scenario anytime soon.

No.. That's why I'm making this.

And yeah my 7in screen for the PS2 MOD already has an inverter made for it.
That can power both my PS2 and the screen at once.

I did add that in the PS2 render.

Here's my idea for the design, it's just an idea as I think it's suited for my comfortability:

Yeah I thought about putting the buttons and analog sticks in that order until I actually tried holding it.
Trust me it works much better in the render I made.
Much more comfortable and more easy to access all the buttons.

I hate the way the PSP analog stick is positioned it always makes my left thumb feel bad after some hours.
(PSVITA's design is amazing, and looks like it will be quite comfortable do to it's bigger size, compared to that of the PSP.)

But for my mod I think it will still be better they way I had it drawn for most games.

Time will tell I guess, I can always change it if I don't like it.
(I could even make it so that they can be swapped places for different game configurations like from FPS's to others at any time..)
Hmm that's an idea I might actually consider implementing.
    :/

    What do you think?

I think this is great if you don't wont wires everywhere the controls look a bit strange but you've got your reasons to have them like that. eather way its looks to be a good concept and i think people will like it :0). i think that a portable ps2 slim could be done too it just wouldn't be as portable as a PSP, a laptop CPU fan could be use for cooling etc. If i remember correctly the early PS2's slims didn't have a fan for cooling so it mustn't take to much to cool one.

Making a portable PS2 isn't hard, and thing is many have already been made.

But I have never seen one with a 7in screen so that's why I'm making one.

But the reason it's not a full PS2 mod is becasue like I said before.
I want my MODS to remain fairly slim and light.
But at the same time still work and feel like a real portable.

And in the future making them fully wireless wouldn't be hard.
Just would cost more for the parts, so until I have the extra money the wired versions will have to do.

And the main reason for the layout of the analog sticks and all the buttons is I play FPS shooters the most and for those games this layout is the best.
But like I said I might even make it so that each analog stick and all the other buttons can be moved into any of the 4 locations at will.

Will post one of my newer render to better help explain this concept.

Cool thought about making the button clusters and analog joy sticks detachable or are you going to make them slide around a certain area and have some form of locking device.

SO I hope now it makes sense..
With this concept I will be able to place the controls in any layout I so choose at any time.
The wiring is going to be a pain.. :/ But it will be well worth it.
