Default What would you like to see in an indie monster hunting game?

I am contemplating making the above project a reality, and would like to hear ideas from the community. This is in no way a guarantee that this game will ever see the light of day, or that your ideas will make it into the finished product if it does, but I am curious to hear what you guys have to say.

My question is what would you do to attempt to improve MH? We've already got 2 other iterations of what MH could be (such as God Eater and Lord of Arcana), each with its advantages and flaws. Personally, I think the edition of actually NPCs instead of the cats would be an improvement. Missions where NPCs are already fighting an elder dragon/monster would be pretty interesting. Escort/assist missions with other hunters.... I guess all I'm saying is add more variety to each mission instead of it simply being a search/gather/destroy missions.

    Beyond that, good luck.

I still haven't gotten much past the planning phase. It would be interesting to see a proper storyline pulled into a hunting game. God Eater has proven that a running plot is possible, but it still seems a bit disjointed. Yes, I'm part of this organization of soldiers that fight monsters, but we never see more than four of us fighting at a time. I'm not going for just a straight hunting game, cause Monster Hunter has that covered better than I could hope to do. I like the gameplay and ideas behind the hunting games though, and I want to do something with that. I guess maybe I'd like to hear more about what people didn't like about the current range of games, so I know what to try and avoid and work around.
