Playing xbox games from the hdd , i have installed 1 but my others don't work :(

I have been trying to get help with this all over the net , and i can't seem to be able to find any guides on it.
i have a modded Xbox and xbmc installed on it. I have since installed many emu's and iso/roms for them. they work great. I then install fable to the 80gb hdd in my xbox. I go to the menu in xbmc and add the folder with the game. It launches just fine and works great ! I then try J-Phoenix Plus NTSC-J , i use "xbox iso" to extract the files to a folder and then i ftp them to the xbox. I start the game and... the screen blinks and goes back to xbmc .

What am i doing wrong ? Same thing happens when i try Metal Wolf Chaos . Is it because the game is jp ?

Sounds like you need to use the program called Enigmah to change the video mode from PAL to NTSC (if it's a PAL XBOX) either that, or patch the XBE. I'm sure there's an option for this in the file browser in XBMC.

FIRST off thank you so much for replying to me. No this is a ntsc xbox. How do i patch the xbe ? wait so xbmc can do it ? I am so sorry i am noob at this.


update : i used the white button on the controller to bring up a sub menu for the xbe file. It gave me the option to start the game in pal or ntsc j or m. this still didn't stop it from going back to the xbmc screen though

use something like c-xbox that is an all in one xbox ftp prog that will auto patch games when needed and can ftp directly from an ISO, but extracting beforehand is also fine as it will still try and patch the xbe (this is not that same as display patching)

Never actually needed to do any display patching prior to a game sitting on my internal xbox HDD, internal on the fly patching seems to have worked so far, though can't say I have tested every single game out there or even close

(on the fly patching may not work with all games, I know this does not work with all Wii games, some games on that system will just not work if you try and force it to any display apart from the original display... just aswell I have a multi regional TV )

The game itself may be detecting the region of your console, this is not uncommon, almost every system has it's problematic imports, some systems even include backups in that.

The Dreamcast I found a few NTSC-J & NTSC-U games that would be scrambled with a RGB scart lead connection on my PAL system, so required patching before burning to work

i.e. I recomend you atleast try what Inferno recomended

i found a app called Qwix because its description said it patches xbe files. It saw it has patched the xbe but the same thing happens still . Should i still try Enigmah even if i don't have a pal xbox ? I will try c-xbox next

if the game detects the region of the xbox it wouldn't mater if it was PAL-E or NTSC-U you would still have issues... so yes try it, though I can't promise it will work it's worth a shot...

not sure , how i fouled things up but i guess i did. First off , i tried Enigmah and it allowed me to pick either pal or ntsc mode before the game starts and it still takes me back to the xbmc screen. I then tried cxbox. I used it extract a xbox iso , i then used it to patch the xbe file. It said it did it . I then drop and dragged it to my e:/games folder on my xbox via the ftp browser. Now when i start my xbox , the tv tells me its in a mode it can't show. What did i do wrong here ? Have i some how set my xbox to pal only mode or something ?

okay back in business. pretty sure i set the video out to pal when i was goofing around with enigmah. But i manage to get it back to ntsc using the blind method. will try the image from cxbox again
