I ALSO wish people would stop referring to Nazi's as a Race...most Germans were not card carrying members of the NSDAP..Besides.. to understand Germany in WW2, you must first understand the the politics before WW1, WW1 and its aftermath.. In a real sense.. WW1 never really ended and WW2 was just a continuation of it

Alot of good Germans,Americans,British,Russian,Italian,Spanish, etc died in WW2... Im sure alot of bad died with them as well..You notice I said Spanish but weren't they neutral? they had a volunteer unit;the 250th Infantry Division otherwise known as the "Blue Division" that fought in the Nord front from '41 to '43

I too can fill out a world map far better that one of the US.. Like I care which state is where....I hated Texas and US history.. traditionally taught in the 7th and 8th grade in Texas.. Much preferred and excelled at World history

I'm completely aware Nazis are not a race.

But anybody in the SS (for example) volunteered to join that particular service........so they can be regarded as Nazis imo.

"Volunteerring" for service in the Wehrmacht is a completely different thing, it was actually conscription in reality (but voluntary on paper).
Especially in the conquered countries, many fit men between particular ages (this would change as the war progressed) would be asked to volunteer for the army, or join the "labour force".......of course many ethnic minorities and undesirables had no choice (we all know where they went).

Not everyone in the greater Reich was actually German........and not all Nazis were, or are German

And yeah, Spain was officially neutral during WW2.......but it was a fascist state before, during and after the war.
