Default ePSXe little slowdowns, lags on good notebook (ATI)

    hi guys,

I play Tekken 3 on ePSXe. When I start the game and play some seconds it runs great. After some seconds there is coming a slowdown. It happens permanently the whole time. GOOD-Slowdown-GOOD-Slowdown ...
I tested all video plugins ( opengl 1,2 ; D3D,....) and set everything low, middle or even high but nothing. I mean I can play other games like Street fighter 4, resident evil 5 or warcraft 3 without any lags. Games are running great but NOT ePSXe. My friend is also playing on his notebook with win7 64 bit and it runs fluently. So I think that win7 is not the problem.
So I think it can be the graphic card ATI. But don't know. I also set my notebook settings to high.... but nothing has changed!

    My notebook:
    Intel Core i5 M 480 @ 2,67 GHz
    4gb ram
    windows 7 64 bit
    ati mobility radeon HD 5650
    500gb HDD

I hope you guys can help me to play my fav game.

I know this works in rpg's that have a slow down but don't know about fighting games the way it was explained to me is that sometimes epsxe doesn't know how good your graphics card is

so what you need to do is:

go to your video plugin go to gfx card vram take it off auto detect and set it to 512MBytes or it's highest setting restart the emulator and try your game let me know if this helps

Try fiddling with your audio settings, I know that was a problem for me in the past, and took me a while to figure out.

hi guys, thx you very much for this!!!
I use 1.5.2 ePSXe Version ( because of Tekken 3 Online) and NO SOUND 0.4 PLUGIN -> means I play Tekken 3 Offline without sounds.

    My Plugin settings:

ePSXe uses much cpu, this could lead to slowdowns
I have read in many threads that a dual core is too much for ePSXe.
So I should use Single Core or download AMD DUAL CORE OPTIMIZER, but this program does not work
because I have Intel Core i5 lol and not amd
and how can I control my cpu ?

ePSXe doesn't use that much CPU, I have an ancient PC with a 2.8 GHZ Celeron single core that runs ePSXe full speed and even with the FPS limit turned off. And I also remember ePSXe running on my cousins PC that was only a 1.5 GHZ Celeron, also ran any game he tried at full speed.

As far as the OP, I got no idea why you would be getting slow downs on ePSXe with your PC. But it has to be something in your settings/plugins

I've never seen an ati mobility radeon HD 5650 run anything well. It's like an nVidia GeForce 6150. It's a chipset. Upgrade your PoS.

not necessarily he could have a lot of background programs running or a program that's a resource hog running at the same time which eats up RAM and causes epsxe to run slower example epsxe runs perfect on my system but if I'm running firefox(resource hog)
    it lags massively.

ok thx man, yes ofc firefox eats much RAM. I set my notebook to balanced and it seems that it works better now. Now there are not so hard lags like before, but still some mini lags.
I hope that you guys can help me further
