Valkyrie Profile audio issues

I'm using EPSXE 1.6, Valkyrie Profile from an ISO. My specs are much much more than sufficient (Core 2 Quad & 3.2ghz, HD5770, 4gb DDR3 1600)

My issue is that at the one cutscene, very early in the game, where the male mercenary (can't recall his name) is talking over top of a music track, sort of narrating the scene of him breaking the statue in front of the king, I have some major audio stuttering. It's only in his voice though, not with the rest of the sound. I'm really not sure what the issue is.

If that doesn't change anything, try using different Async mode, or use Peops DSound, with Mode set to 2, and both SPU hacks enabled.

Ok, thanks. I just googled a recommended config and it said to use this config. Can you maybe explain what some of the settings do? Because I honestly have no idea, so I just tried some different stuff. I'd rather know what it actually does so I can just figure it out myself from here on out, if you could explain it for me or point me to a wiki or something. thanks for the help by the way
