Default Game could not be started (80010087) PSP

So in order to go to the sony site my PSP required a system update from OFW 6.39 to 6.60. I was a little weary about doing this but did it anyway. After the update was completed i tried to run one of my signed games and got sent back to the xmb with this message: Game could not be started (80010087) Am i doomed or is there a way to fix this?

Nope, signed games won't work on 6.60 OFW anymore, as that has been patched, including the fake_np.

If you're using 1000/early 2000, you can try using CFW, if you want.

Thanks guys, i figured as much. Do you think eventually games will be signed in compatibility with 6.60, or am i fated to install CFW?

Unless someone develops a new way to sign games, then no.

And about the CFW, this will help.

You make CFW out to be something bad, but an extensive discussion was made on which outweighs the other in pros and CFW won.
Now that there is a new update, ofw cannot play DLed games and cfw cannot connetc to psn but I think that you will be able to get onto PSN with CFW before you can play pirated games one OFW.

Well, who knows? Until then, just use CFW if you're too desperate to play one.

Trying to downgrade from 5.50 Prome4 to M33-6 with a broken screen and using a program that doesn't display homebrew, that's how.

Maybe it can be fixed, but since the screen is broken.. well..

Other than the ability to run downloaded games, are there any other pro's to CFW? And if not, what are the cons as opposed to OFW?

Homebrew. Plugins. Recovery menu. CXMB (custom themes). RemoteJoyLite (play on PC via USB[I guess this would be considered homebrew/plugin])

These are just a few that come to mind.

Besides of playing backup(/downloaded) games, homebrews is another reason why people use CFW, where some are very useful, as well further increases the PSP capabilities.

As for the cons, well there's some possibility it can brick your PSP, IF you're not very careful with it. (like messing with the flash0, etc, etc)

cheats enabled in both PSP and PSX end software, works with homebrew aswell

Bricking is a possibility but it's not going to happen if you follow the guides correctly and make sure it's plugged in & charged up while doing any upgrades downgrades or any other kind of firmware installations & don't play round with settings too much, especially flash0 as meganova pointed out

Thankfully, as long as you have a 1000 lying around, it's rather simple to un-brick it.

I just thought I'd bump this (since it's relevant) to point out that a downgrader for 6.60 OFW was released a few hours ago. Source here. I haven't tested it out at all to see if it works on my 3000 yet, but it's probably worth a try.
