Default Windows Native Burning or External App?

I Was sitting here backing up some files, (gog.com game installers i bought) and thought what do others use?

I Noticed these days for simple "Put files on a disc" the windows 7 native burning seems great I normally burn in multi session which it also supports (for PC backing up)

Image burning and copying I still use ImgBurn however, but for simple backups finding windows native fine.

How do you guys write your discs, what apps if any do you use ?

id definitely only use imgburn and ifyou wish to make sure your files are perfect apon burning, make a SFV of each file and burn those with them

yeah, windows native burning is ok , but still if thats important data to you you want to use QuickSFV to ensure the files are burned perfect and they are not corrupted down the road

But aye anything i burn in the Windows Quick and Dirty are replaceable and to be fair ive not had a file where the original was ok with windows burning it. but if i wish to be totally sure the image burned right i normally use the verify option in img burn.
all in all, it pays off more to have a good solid burner and good media rather than any hash checkers at least in my opinion. I normally test my new burners to see how they perform and my current fav is actually a Sony / NEC Optiarc for some reason it always burns awesome even at higher speeds (Nero Test shows at a 20x burn on dvd media (Verb) it maintained 98% with not a lot of jitter my PS2 and PS1 love the burns it throws out) and I bought it for a quick replacement for a Samsung DVDRW too (which started to make very odd burns that would work in itself but in no other drive )

At some point id rather have a nice Lite on, Yamahaa or Pioneer, but there getting harder to find out here and since I already have 2 Dual Layer DVDRW's in my desktop and another in my laptop (That one is shitty but ok for pc usage but deffo not console usage) Im waiting for one to fail first. then again if by that time Blu Ray burners are at a reasonable price point id just get one of those

Im not sure a SFV would help against media deterioration though but ya I can see it useful if you are not sure of the source file or are using not so great media

I just meant having a SFV is great to know quickly if the file is still undamaged on a burned disc

and regarding good burners my External Sony DVD DL/RW burner YEARS later is still running fantastic, still runs like new, unlike my POS internal HP burner, that thing almost always fails.

Id definitely want to get one of the nice brands you mentioned.
