Default How do I overclock my CPU

How do I overclock it, I am just so eager to melt my motherboard, I can no longer contain myself, now where did I put my blowtorch?

I once burned my hand with an iron, it was a real tear jerker, thats how hard my sister was laughing.

    Default Seriously...

Seriously, I would realy appreciate it if someone told me how to overclock my processor. Do I just edit my BIOS before it starts up or what? And to the person who tried to delete my disclaimer file on my FTP server, I think you better NOT do that.

you can overcloak your CPU by modifying the FSB and multiplier settings. example : if you have celeron 1.1 ghz, his FSB is 100 mhz. that means that working speed is 100 mhz multiplied with multiplier that gives you 1100 mhz therefore

    100 x 11 = 1100 mhz

you can go into your bios and tweak up the multiplier, eg put it on 12.5 so your CPU spead would be 1250 mhz. also i would suggest overcloaking only if you have intel's processor. and do it in reasonable range so that you overcloak your CPU in max of +20%-25% of the speed.

just press DEL when you startup the computer. But if you do, buy a bigger fam, or your CPU will frie. You can also change the jumper settings on your main board.
I'm just a lurker these days, I feel like an 80 year old gramps, watching his grand children play outside *sigh*

In fact, it's not very difficult to overclock(OC for short) your PC but pls make sure that you MUST know what you are going to do on your system. It means you must be...er pro at your system, you must know something about computer hardware so that you wouldn't burn up you PC or something like that :-p
But dont be so afraid of.Most of problems won't be so serious , your PC just can't boot correterly or hang up sometime....just experiment on your own and remember don't make it far such as rapidly increasing your FSB (frontside bus) , Ratio.....so serious that would harm your PC..
Ok i highly recommend that you should join some computer forum and try to figure it out
at last my english not very well, pls try to understand wat i say

Well, then do one thing, start up your pc, start up a powerful game, like quake3 or UT or mohaa or something. Play for 15 minutes, and then take a bucket of water and pour it over your motherboard. That should make you some nice steam mobo

    Default ok some real questions..

how do i overclock a gateway comp, or can i..?
what is 15 percent of 633mhz..? (i hate math..)
if i did that would i still put my comp at a high risk of burning out..?
if so.. what is a safe number..? (i have no funds for a fan..)
and what is the worst that could happen if a comp is overclocked slightly..?

oh and click on my sig..

15 percent of 633 is (math...633*0.15) is 94.95. that means that your cpu would run at ~728 mhz. if it has Intel's cpu, and it has cooling fan (not just passive heatsink), then the chances to burn it are minimal. check out in your comp's bios for that option.
