It will please you to know Infect is a deck again in standard. Some dumb new enchantment made this possible.
As for Omnath Spiders nailed it. Mana burn was dumb. Damage not being on the stack was much more controversial but I think also a good decision.

I liked poison, but when poison = creature's power that you can't pay 2 to counter plus a -1/-1 Santa Claus , it becomes a bit OP. Mana burning someone was the original troll ability for magic and warmed the cockles when I played against asshats with my mana burn deck. It was only reserved for them, because I would hate my friends to experience that douchebaggery.

Infect is kind of OP, but I mean, there is Melira among other things.

In WotC's defense, neither of the abilities on their own are especially potent, so combining them was probably for the best. Wither did stuff I guess... but it was never really relevant in the format it existed (Though it was fun when you stuck it on a dude with ping. ). And poison was, well, poison, that is to say it was terrible.

You remember that time Faeries ruined Magic? I do. It was so bad that people were trying to play Faeries in drafts. AND IT WORKED.

That's the reason I chose you for the target, aside from having control of the board, you had full grip and I had no way of dealing with Elspeth. Make dudes, equip dudes, win.
