Post Shenmue, and Phantasy Star Online

Are these good rpg's, I like to research games before I buy them. I know these games have good graphic's and gameplay. What I want to know is, Do they carry out good story's. I don't get a RPG unless it has a good story. I doubt PSO can carry out a good story since it's online. But, correct me if I'm wrong.

Shenmue: Tedious. Stilted gameplay. Decent story, but it takes forever to go anywhere. And not really an RPG in the traditional sence. There are no random battles, and the only real way it resembles an RPG is that you talk to NPC's (Non Player Characters). Not bad, but buy Grandia 2 instead. Its only 20 bones, and well worth the cash.

Phantasy Star Online: More of a Diablo in a Phantasy Star setting then an RPG. Lackluster story (it doesnt really have one). Also a tad short, and only worth playing online. Not an RPG at all really. Not worth it if you are looking for an RPG in the traditional sence. Again Grandia 2 is a worth purchase if you havnt already tried it. Also worthy of a look is Skies of Arcadia, also for the Dreamcast.
    Hope that helped!

Great recommendation. Grandia is really cool. It was also released on the PSX too and I've heard that Grandia 2 will be released for PSX or PS2 as well. Maybe it already has. I'm not really sure. <IMG SRC="smilies/yelwacko.gif" border="0">
