Lightbulb anyone with windows me...

does anyone else with windows me have a problem with the icons getting all mixed up? i've tried rebuilding my comp 3 times now because of this and its happened again. right now, i have a deusex icon for all my .jpg files and a microsoft access icon for deus ex. these are just two. almost ALL of my icons are messed up though. does anyone else have this problem?

Yes i also have this problem with Windows Mellenium Edition. I really hate it because i usually know what i want by the picture. So when they're mucked up i have to read the names. Not a big problem. I usually fix it by restarting the computer again, or logging off and on to it. I'm sure there has to be a patch out in cyberspace that fixes that. If you find one, make sure to tell me. Allright sorry I couldnt have been of more help.

hmm.. i've tried logging off and back on, restarting, and even shutting it all the way off and turning it back on and that still doesn't fix anything for me. i'll just be exploring like a week l8r and realize that their all fixed all of a sudden. i have no clue why that happens all the time.

I've never had that problem. Although, this is my uncle's computer, not mine. So all I do on it is take advantage of the cable modem and download crap all day. I don't mess with any of the settings nor do I touch anything on the desk top.

well.. all my icons are back to normal all a sudden.. how come... i have no idea why! they just all of a sudden decided that they'd be right again i guess. but now im having other problems everytime i restart my comp or turn it off and back on i get something about a hard drive error and i have to push F1 just to get it to boot up it also runs scandisk every time now too because of an "Improper Shutdown Detected". Since when did Start-->Shut Down-->Restart become improper? i dont know but this comp really really sux!!!

This all sounds very strange...I have never really had any problems with WIN ME,with the exception of it gets kinda slow and laggy after not re-booting for a few days, I've never had any thing go wrong so far.

Have you physically removed a hard drive from the machine? I had to remove my old CD-ROM drive because it was wrecked (thank you Save-It-Systems...) and I get a message saying that my current CD-ROM drive isn't ATAPI compatible. I have to press F1 as well. I am using Windows 95, but it isn't all that different from Windows ME. Hope this helps.

Septic: right click on your desktop and go to properties->effects

then see if : Show icons use all possible colors is checked.

if it ain't there's your problem. if it is.
well ME is your problem. get win98se (more stable) or get win2k (much better)

nope.. its just windows me causing the problem. but win98 was even worse for me. one time i tried setting up a quake2 server on win98, then when i connected to MY OWN server my ping was over 1,000! the lag with win98 was terrible for me! im thinking of switching to win2k unless winxp is gonna be out soon. anybody know when the final version of winxp is gonna be out?

Windows me is full of bugs!
But if you push that windows update button it will fix some off the problems but it is still many bugs to fix.

Well my dad is a microsoft dealer so we get all the things from microsoft. i have had the problem where after playing a game all the icons would just rearrange and the screen would shrink not allowing me to get to the start toolbar!!! For me though no games worked on ME or 2000 professional so my dad put this system where you can chose what windows you want to start. So my dad put all of the games on windows 98 while all my dads stuff is on 2000. it is a real good setup but you need a lot of space.
