I honestly don't know, I've never done it before. I have let my friend borrow my GH:Metallica before and he gave it back to me with a bigass ring on the bottom from where he must have thrown his xbox down a flight of stairs.

Let me clarify, when I said sideways I meant vertical. I keep mine vertical because I like it that way.
Truthfully it does ruin shit if you knock it over while you're playing something, but I have never done that and don't intend to. I just take better care of my shit.
Had two xboxes over the course of a few years and never once knocked it over or had any trouble with it standing vertical. It just bothers me when people tell me to change the way I do things.

Nah he had an oldschool Elite when he ruined my GH so I believe it's either the older ones that cause the ring when you move it, or they both do.

Well, i do have about 3 sitting next to me, but they aren't mine :s

Fake Edit: I looked up some pictures and no, they don't it's an open tray.

I wouldn't personally put them on their side, but as long as it works, and you don't bump it, yeah it should be fine.

Lolwut, consoles to be vertical has always been just tacked on and poorly designed in my mind. As such, if you knock the 360 over with a disc inside, bam, ruined disc.

I never play with a console vertically, except for my Wii, which loads everything off of my HDD (sitting horizontally).
A spinning disk pulls toward its axis, and if you switch axis while in motion, the constant motion will be broken, and the disk will come off the axis. I can't remember what the two types of motion were called,but either way, they are limited to the vertical axis and horizontal axis due to gravity. Therefore either one is a good as the other, but cannot be switched while in motion. I play the console it its most rigid position, pervy sounding, yes.

I have actually watched someone move their console from vert to horizontal b4, and it was hilarious! They completely destroyed their GH3 disk.
But, yeah. Anyone who says one way or the other is damaging has no common sense, or at least refuses to back their statements scientifically.
