Like FFVII. There wer quite a few copies manufactured, but since people have hung on to them for so long, supply went down and demand stayed the same (if not increased). Therefor, a black label still in the packaging can sell for up to $700.

Strangely, the same deal kind of works with money. Old money is worth a shitload of money.

Confederate cash? Not worth the paper it's printed on after the civil war. Nowadays? It's generally well above the US dollar.

Yepp. I found 3 BL copies of VII about 3 weeks ago going for $50 each.

I now have 3 copies of FFVII and intend on selling them all and making quite a nice profit

The money itself isn't what determines what it's worth, it's the value tied to it. This value drops every time someone creates more money.

In this case, it doesn't matter whether you have one slice at 4 or 2 slices at 8, they both have the same value. The way inflation works, you don't make more money or lose money, you generally end up right back where you started, because each individual dollar has a lower value tied to it. Ever notice how once everybody across the economy gets a pay raise shit gets more expensive? Same idea. That extra money has to come from somewhere. That "somewhere" is someone making smaller and smaller slices. You might have more cash in your pocket, but you're now paying out a bit more for everything, so ultimately you have no more cash than before. Way back people got by on dollars and cents. But more money had to come up for various reasons. Eventually, we got to the current state where cents are pretty much pointless and dollars have to be fairly numerous to do anything.
    That actually makes sense... Cool.

Also, my son is slowly starting to acclimatize himself to video game memorabilia.

    I'm so proud!

He even knew enough to realize that the Link action figure was supposed to sit atop Epona, and the Ganondorf one sits on the black stallion.

Okay. That's enough proud father crap from one thread. Although I just realized that, with the rollback, the video of him I posted is no longer up...

Seriously one of the proudest moments of that summer.
Video was taken about five days before his first birthday. Yes, he wasn't even one when this happened.
