Depends what you want or like to play with. I try to keep in character just cause it makes it more of a challenge. I mean that if I pick say a warrior or a class where the focus is on weapon related skills, I do not learn or invest any money or time in magic (and vice versa).

well thats the thing. im not really sure what im after. i know im not after magic thats all. alchemy takes too long. and magic in general gets dull after a while. at least to me.

Pick a class that deals strictly with weapons. Then you can use enchanted ones against foes weak to magic but still have a combat focused role.

When in doubt, just say "fuck it" and make your own

That way, you can suit your characters skills to your RPG speciality/preference. I always make my own class in The elder scrolls 4

This. It's so much easier when you create your own class, far easier to level up.

Assassin. Or a class that has good stealth and good lock picking. At least I think that's what is in the game... I've only played Morrowind. (That is how you spell it right? )

i ended up making a custom assassin class. using hand to hand as the main attribute. i made him into a fun class where i could go around killing people and escaping from jail and doing quests. but unfortunately i realized why i put the game down in the first place. after a few levels it just get really repetitive cuz i beat it so many times. just makes me wanna play the new one that comes out this year. cant wait.

oh and p.s. i realize i made this post in the wrong category but thanks for posting anyways.

I haven't played Oblivion, mainly because I used to make mods for morrowind, and it got me a little burnt out on it. I've been thinking about picking it up again lately, but now im into making a campaign for Warcraft III: the frozen throne, so it may be quite awhile before that happens. I guess i should really try oblivion just to see what its like, but i've heard quite a few bad things about it. Still, guess it's worth a try.

I decided to choose an Imperial Knight with focus on Blades, blunts, blocking, etc. and magic. It's a good way to go, because you automatically have a good grasp on some of the best areas. You've probably already chosen your classes by now, but I would recommend this style, plus imperials make the greatest knights.
