    Default emulators giving me problems.

I defragmented my hard drive, and ever since then, the sound has been really choppy on all of my emulators, most notably VBA, Project64, VirtuaNES, NEStopia, ZSNES, etc. I've tried re-installing them, but that didn't work. Now, my problem lies with VBA. I've messed with the frame skip, I've turned auto throttle off, I've re-installed it, but the sound is still choppy when I run it. I upgraded from 7.- to 8.0 beta 3, and am still having the same issues. Am running WinXP, if it helps. Any suggestions?

For the VBA, try set the Frame Skip to 0, and Automatic.
and enable the Synchronize in the Emulation settings.
