New Firmware??

I am new to the site and I am looking for the newer Firmware for my PSP. I can not play some of my roms. My friend downgraded it and I am not sure how to do it or even where to look for it. Any suggestions?

I use www.dark-alex.org and www.psp-vault.com for all my stuff. What version do you currently have?

I am not sure. As I said one of my frieds downgraded it for me. Is there a way to tell?

Yep. Look for System Information, and it'll be listed as #.## M33.

I have 3.40 OE-A....is that it? If so...what is the new one that I need?

Yep, that's Open Edition firmware (I think), which means you can upgrade to M33. There're guides floating around telling you how to do it, so just google it

The latest is 3.90 revision 2 I believe, but you may need to go through 3.70 to get to it.

That'll sort you for now. Then from there you can do whatever you want. Also, whenever you download a new CFW from DarkAlex, it comes with an installation walkthrough.

Ooops, late. Anyway, shame to let waste what's already been written:

What firmware should you get? There's no hard fact answer to that. The most recent M33 firmware however, can do pretty much everything you'd even want to do with your PSP when it comes to pirating games and running homrbrew applications (download 3.90 M33-2 from This site to get it). If you're absolutely 100% new to all this, have a read at this topic on QJ.

As SA-X is telling you, you will have to go through firmware 3.7 before finally upgrading to 3.90. The topic I linked to covers that in detail.
