    Default Video game memories.

Ahh, so fun. While playing the Rayman game I cherished in childhood, at long last, I've been loving the thinking-on-your-feet and fast paced platforming that rivaled even Mario.

    But I wonder...

What was the game that you and your childhood grew up in? Go ahead, take a trip through memory lane. What was the game the you kept in your hearts and mind that has shaped you to the player of today?

My very first game was Adventure Island on NES, but I forgot about it as soon as I got another cartridge Speaking about childhood memories... there were so many games I loved.... But mostly I played Yume Penguin Monotogary and Adventure Island 3 and when I layed my hands on Sega there was Streets of Rage. My dad and me could spend all day beating up bad guys, me as Blaze and he as whoever. So I guess these are the most cherished ones for me.

Mario I think was my first game that I loaded off a floppy disk & which also had space invaders.

But I always loved Sonic the hedgehog II for the Genesis, good times.

Space Invaders on the arcade, I remember our local taxi office getting one in late 79 early 80. As for computers, I still rate Manic Miner on the Spectrum as one of my all time favourites.

Some good memories from Ikari Warriors, Ghosts and Goblins, Renegade and The Last Ninja games on my brother's Commodore 64. When I got a lil older, I got a Sega Mega Drive and my friend got a SNES. We'd play SF 2 and Pilotwings at his house, then play Golden Axe and Streets of Rage at mine.

The best memories of all though were from Goldeneye on the N64, 4 player.

All the NES and GB Megaman games. I replayed them to death but never once did it get boring. And then we, of course, have Super Mario Bros 3. One of the best NES games ever.

Hm. It's really a toss up between a few games from NES, and a few from the Master System. My memory tells me I grew up first with MS, but I also recall having NES around the same time. Which isn't to say they were released at similar dates. I wouldn't know if they were, I just remember having them together. The main games on MS that I adored above all other MS games were Zillion 1 and 2, some racing game (I forgot the name. Shameful, I know.), and Wonder Boy 3. I played those games like an addict. On the NES, there's just so much to choose from, but my favorites were Mario 1, 2, and 3. The MegaMan games. The Castlevania games, Gremlins 2: The New Batch (the music was catchy), and a few others. There was one game where you played as some kid, or wierd green character, that made rainbows that you can use as platforms to collect stuff with, or hit the enemy with. Again, don't recall the name, but that too was an old favorite.

Agreed. The NES MegaMan games were the shit. I played them all several times. Though, the ones that really stuck out to me as ever lasting were 2 and 3.

My best memories were with Donkey kong country, link to the past, mario bros 3, ocarina of time, grandia 2, ff9, sonic adventure, star fox 64, mario kart 64, and mario 64. I'm sure there's others, but I've never had memories playing those games quite the same. :[

I suppose the first thing I can recall was when the local 5 and Dime Store got a Pac-Man cabinet. I would waste countless quarters on that thing. Then came Defender...that's a classic. I probably spent the most time on Tempest and Star Castle though, since not soon after the Pac-Man machine came to town, we had some guy open an arcade in his garage. That place was nuts...always swarming with kids.

Spy Hunter, Gauntlet, Pac-Man on the Arcade. The Abbey of Crime, Renegade, The Last Ninja 2 and many others to mention them all on Spectrum. Good memories.

Those sound like very good memories. All of you have had good memories. To me, I think the right video game can make a family come together.
