Burn DC games?

Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting a DC. Games are near impossible to find (unless ebay) of course. I hear a lot of you burn and play without problems. I'd liek to do that to.

Can I just use CD-Rs?
Any specific kind?
Could you give me kind of a tutorial?

CD-Rs any kind, really, as long as they aren't so unbelievably cheap they give you aids.

Use Alcohol 120%, load the image up, select RAW/DAO write and 4-8X write speed.

Place inside the console your backup, profit!

Any CD-R will work fine. A lot of people recommend expensive ones, but I have burned games on pretty much evey brand, and they all work. I've only had a few go bad, and they are the ones I played the most.

To burn, I recommend using Alcohol 120%. Burn them using RAW/DAO and burn as slow as possible. 4X or 8X is best.

Thanks so much guys. I think I have a cheap Office Max ones, I hope they'd work because I have about 150 of them. DC is one of my all time favorite systems and would loooove to play games on it again. Where the best place to get the images?

On otherboards people will steer you away from Alcohol 120% because apparently DiscJuggler >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> alcohol. This is not true, Alcohol 120% does just as good a job as DiscJuggler wihtout all the complicated settings.

I agree. DJ is more of a headache than it's worth. I have had DJ images that refuse to burn with DJ itself, but work fine in Alky.

EDIT: Now, for copying DC ISOs? DEFINATELY use Discjuggler. It's pretty hard to screw it up.

You mean copying cd-rs to cdi image? or cd-r to cd-r 'on-the-fly'?

So the best way is to download those files into a folder from the FTP and then they'll do the whole file integration thing and it'll become an image, then just burn the image using alcohol 120%?

Yep. Just use WinRar to extract and you'll end up with an image. Every Dreamcast image type out there is compatable with Alky.

Remember that BIN/CUE images aren't selfboot. You can tell if an image is selfboot by looking at the disc info when you open an image in Alky. If you see 2 session, 2 tracks, it's selfboot. If you only see one session, it will require the Utopia Boot Disc to play.

some games are too big to put on 1 disc and self boot. so you have to use a boot disc.
