I second that line of thinking. Plus, who determines access to your data? I want my data to be ready for me to use based on my preferences, when I want it. If the internet is down or my internet provider bans access to a certain website, I won't be able to have access to that stuff. I mean, MMOs are only cool if you can go online to play them, let alone your personal movie collection and such.

Absolutely not. You have no clue what the two of these things look like, do you?

OK, my uncle's looking to upgrade his i5 (last gen 1136) dual core, 4GB RAM, HIS 5770 rig.

I suggested that he might as well go for top of the range since he has the money. These parts look decent/compatible?

Will be running off a good quality 600W PSU with 80%+ efficiency. I can't remember the brand though.

yea Those Parts are Comparable, im not a Intel Fan, i Don't like there CPU's but if Ur Uncle already has a Intel then there's no point switch its just more money i guess, i have been using amd all my life never have had a problem. but back to Ur question yes the ram will work in the Mobo and the CPU will Work with that Mobo same with the GFX card

    Hope That Helps

Ps if u ever want to switch i can show u some good amd hardware Also remember that the GFX Card is a Pretty Big 1 so leave some room cuz its gonna take up ALOT of space

Looks good. Not really top of the line, but nothing wrong with it as far as I see.

So has anyone gotten a look at the amd bulldozer processors coming out in the near future. how do you guys think they'll stack up against intel's best? From what I hear they're supposed to be octacore or whatever.

There is a difference between ignorance and stupidity ignorant people can be taught
stupid people need to be shot.

So far all the "official" benchmarks have been fakes. There will be 4, 6, and 8 core models though. I've seen rumors of around $300 for an 8 core ( may have been more like $280 can't remember for sure). Check out http://www.overclock.net/ they always have good info on anything PC related. Since I use my PC for gaming 90% of the time I go with AMD anyway. I always say you could take 2 PCs with identical components except 1 runs an Intel CPU and 1 run an AMD CPU and run the exact same game on both PCs. Sit someone down in front of them and play on it and they won't be able to tell a difference. If I was doing something that required intensive CPU useage or hyper-threading thats different. I've used AMD for my last 2 builds and can max all my games on high settings at nearly half the price of a comparable Intel system. That extra money comes in handy for things like clothes for my daughter, food etc etc lol .Anyway, back on topic. No idea how it will compare to a 2600k Intel yet. But the competition is good for us consumers! O and the release date for Bulldozer is Oct 12th.

Once I get some money saved up. I'm building myself a nice comp. I'm not sure what parts I'll use as I want to use as up to date as parts as possible. So this probably won't be for a few years. With the way technology upgrades, who knows how powerful these new parts will be. On a sitenote I picked up one of those USB arcade joystick pads. It's alright.

I don't think they'll be as fast in the benches as intel's, but a lot closer in performance than the comparison between AMD's 1090t and Intel's 990x. AMD seems to really have a strong foot on budget to performance though, which was my initial attraction for choosing their processor.

It's going to be buggy until they fix a problem with it, but it seems like a promising processor. I think it's similar to the situation with sandybridge, for awhile they had to recall them to fix an error also, but in due time hopefully the situation gets resolved. It looks like that they improved the memory controller this time around, but aside from that you're better off hanging onto your phenom ii 1100t's for awhile if you got em. Performance per core isn't coming in that much higher.

Personally, I like the idea of Bulldozer. It seems a lot more focused on media applications than raw processing power, but that's what most people need anyhow. Personally, I really like to see companies trying new things. I'm excited for both Intel and AMD's new processor lines.

Probably a silly question, but does anyone here know how to use drivers that are pretty much just a system file and set up information? I know it sounds odd, but I'm trying to get this sound card working for my brother and the "driver" for it isn't actually an executable, all I get is a sys file and an inf file. I'll get the actual file later and edit this post.
