There is no such thing as a program that speeds up your computer.

There are only programs that try to clean all the crap out.

well, 10,000 rpm is really just a minimum access time... (1 spin of a disk @ 10,000 rpm is 6ms, where as a ssd can access files in .22ms).

That WD drive is actually the highest benchmarked non ssd on the market.

I want to get an SSD, but Ill probably have to wait until they become much cheaper. Even a 50GB one would be nice to run all of my sys and prog files from. I don't much need to access any of my music or video files that quickly. Most of my wait comes from Photoshop, and the like opening.

SSDs actually blow the Velociraptor out of the water. Miyari (staff on WoWhead) was using a Velociraptor and switched to an SSD to test it out because they were giving out some as part of a contest. She timed the PC startup and WoW loading times, and the difference was quite noticable. Cut off about 1/4 of the loading time for WoW, about half the time to start up and to load other games. They linked to the Tankspot video review as well.

Are the SSD's under $800/32gb yet?

Harhar. Off the top of my head, I seem to recall them being about $1/GB now. Slightly more.

    EDIT: Woops, wrong. $2/GB.

I was being serious, the last time i priced them it was $800 for a 32gb drive

If they are down to $1 per GB, then hell... Why are we still using HDD's?

    Thats cost effective as hell.

It's within a reasonable range for the average user concerned with speed to get a SSD for their OS and any hefty programs, with a separate 1 TB-ish traditional HDD for storage, but it's not worthwhile to use SSD's as primary storage.

I was trying to imply something i guess.

Just makes me mad that 90% of computers on the market ship with a non partitioned 500gb-1tb drive with tons of bloatware and crap like that.

    Sad state really.

They are a worthwhile investment if you can afford them. Safety of data and reliable speed is worth the money imo. You can always take your chances with a hard drive, but you never know what to expect with them.

Those are great programs. They will really help you out if you are having minor trouble with your comp.
