The 20Mb connection is only costing £1.50 a month more than I was paying for a 4Mb connection. I would only upgrade to the 50Mb connection if it wasn't much more than I'm paying now...And I've kinda grown accustomed to dloading a 350m tv episode in less than 5 minutes.

If IDE drives are any good to you, I could give you one of mine if I buy a new PC? I'm not sure if I want to buy one yet, but linking up three IDE harddisks to most new motherboards seems to be more or less impossible. Stupid technology moving on.

My quite new quad core compatible motherboard has 1 IDE channel, so you can use 2 IDE HDDs on it, and then 6 SATA HDDs.

You really need to learn how to use newsgroups. I think you could still set it up without a virgin email addy...If not, they will let you have one free.

Hee. The trouble is that I have an IDE DVD-ROM too. ^_~ It sucks. I'm happy to buy some nice new memory, and a much better processor, graphics card, and motherboard, but I don't really need any more space than the 400GB or so that I have now. Nor do I find the access times on my drives even remotely slow... So I would've been quite happy just to stick with my existing harddisks. And my DVD burner is still in perfectly good nick, and runs fast enough for my tastes. Bleh. It's kind of crappy, as it's dawned on me that I'll probably be able to salvage pretty much nothing out of this PC.

Okay, less 'pretty much' and more just plain old 'nothing'. My RAM is too old, my graphics card is too crap, my harddisks are all IDE so I can use maybe one or two at most, my PSU probably isn't enough for newer components... I guess there's my...floppy disc drive? Saving myself three pounds! XD

You can get a SATA DVD+RW drive for like £15 which will spare up another IDE. ;]
