Give me a few days to scrounge around to see if I have anything I can use for this first. Otherwise your offer is very tempting and will be considered.

you'll need a female usb wire (extention cord the IN end), an xbox wire, either a controller extention or breakaway dongle and 1 of the games I made a thread about. Totally around $8.

Ok, what do you mean by xbox wire? I understand all the material I need except that piece.

Cable that goes into the controller port. You cut off the end with a joypad or whatever.

actually if you delete that whole phrase and still understand it you're fine. it's an additional name for the breakaway cable or extention.

oh sweet. I know I have a spare one of those laying around, but yeah I'm gonna view the guide again and see what I need still.

Btw, is this softmod reversible? (In case I'll ever need to sell it on ebay as "original")

Yes, I recently restored mine with no problems.

Ok. I am a little confused now that I am looking for everything I need. Can someone give me a clear cut list of everything I will need to do this? Also be specific, don't just say for example "xbox wire". Thanks.

You should pick up a second hand controller, really doesn't matter if it's broken or not. You only need the wire with the Xbox plug where it breaks away.

You will need one of three games Splinter cell, (doesn't matter which version you get, whether it's PLATINUM HITS or original.), 007 Agent Underfire (I think you need the original version) or Mech Assault (I think you need the original version.)

A memory stick that is compatible with the Xbox file system (FAT-X).

http://www.epforums.org/showthread.php?t=48384 << Exploitable game specifics here.

Also make sure the usb drive doesn't pull too much power from the xbox and that you need nothing off of it, it will totally format the drive with no asking prompt.

I just remodded my Xbox because it's more fun that way. Took me exactly 2.5 minutes.

    I used:

Action Replay Max memory card with Agent Under Fire Softmod files on it.
    Agent Under Fire

You need the original version of Agent Under Fire. The Platinum version will not work. I got an Action Replay MAX memory card because it comes with a USB docking station to hook to the PC so you can copy over the required files to do the softmod...with the AR Max you don't need to build anything. The softmod I use was Softmod Installer Deluxe 2.0, I believe from XboxHQ...it's been so long since I got it I don't remember exactly what the file was called. I only needed the 007 Files off it, so I don't have it anymore.

Get the softmod files onto the memory card using whatever means you decide upon (either build the Xbox cord suggested, or grab an AR Max)

Once the files are on the mem card, you can copy them onto the Xbox hard drive from the dashboard.

Load up Agent Under Fire, go to LOAD MISSION, and select your game save.

The screen goes black, and then loads up to the custom dashboard.

Immediately select CREATE MS BACKUP, select yes.

    Select INSTALL SOFTMOD, wait.

    Select CREATE SOFTMOD BACKUP, wait.

Install either ULEASHX or EvoX as your new dash.

    Done

    Seriously, 2.5 minutes.

(Replace "Agent Under Fire" with whatever game you happen to be using: Mech Assult or Splinter Cell)

"Create softmod backup" I've never taken this step before... Ever... Maybe that's how I've bricked mine a few times.

Additionally, you need to identify your DVD ROM drive. If you have a Samsung, you're golden. It'll play just about anything you throw at it. If you have a Phillips, cray like a baby, because you'll be FTP-ing all your games over to the hard drive...it refuses pretty much everything. Thompsons are finiky...I have heard good and bad about them.

EDIT: apparently some people have luck with Philips
