Default I just bought a Neo Geo CD

    Hello everyone

I love my retro game consoles very much & I already have a SNES, Nintendo Ultra 64 & a Dreamcast, anyway a couple of days I bought a Neo Geo CD off of eBay for a bargain price, it came with 2 official games & sh!tloads of copied/backup games which I was very happy about, but a lot of games have scratches on them & I can only play them for while & then a disc error comes up & I can't carry on, my question is how do I download & create backup games to play on my Neo Geo CD console?

I would be truly grateful for any help you give me, thanks in advance : )

To burn them's quite easy, get Nero or Alcohol 120%, convert the mp3s to wav (if there are any), load up the .cue with Alcohol/Nero and burn at 4-8x.

    Depends on the model.

    Is it a toploader/frontloader/cdz?

Thanks for your replies Inferno_ & Dinosaurman

I have a top loader Neo Geo CD console,
I believe my DVD/CD Burner's lowest writing/burning speed is 8x, will games definitely play if I burn at 8x speed? Also is there a program that allows me to lower the burning speed of my DVD/CD Burner? I have Windows Vista too : )

Thanks in advance for any help given to me

I belive that the CDZ needs to patched as it has the copyright protection.

You should be fine burning games onto a non Z system.

Also welcom to the Neo Geo owners club

Also reguarding the speed of burn,

    Burn one and test it.

I don't recommend playing backups on a real NGCD system because the CD lens in those units are weak. When I had my NGCD with 40+ games last year I never even burned one game because I was worrying of damaging the CD lens.

The Top Loader is the most reliable unit, the CDZ well no.

The laser pot can be adjusted.

Yeah but I don't want to spend time trying to get it fixed.

Most of the CD games are cheap (except for some).

If I get a CD unit again it's going to be a few games (mostly shoot 'em ups like Last Resort, Pulstar, etc.).

Iron Clad is exspensive as hell/

Plus adjusting the pot is just turning a knob.
    It's not hard to do.

Just make sure you use good media.
And it should work fine for ages to come.

Iron Clad is not worth the price. It's ok at best, but I would never blow $200+ on it.
