It doesn't really matter what version of motherboard you have. The softmod will mod any Xbox.

Yeah, it's increadibly easy, no matter what model of Xbox you have. Just make sure you don't interrupt it while it's working and you'll be fine

This guide seems useful. This one goes into more detail though.

Your Xbox version only matters if you're going to install a modchip.

Really? They have XBox systems for like fifty bucks at Gamestop. I might have to save up and pick one up.

That said, it's sort of hard to find softmod stuff anywhere.

    Yes. Any softmod, any Xbox.

Also, you don't even need an Xbox memory card + dongle, you can make a custom Xbox > USB port and use a memory stick that's compatible, whack the saves on, load them up with the game.

edit: It's well worth having a modded Xbox, emulation, media center, copied games, the lot.

It can be done for the price of a blank cd...No need for a memory card or Splinter Cell game. It involves hot swapping though, so there is a slight risk of rendering the Xbox hdd useless.

Xboxhdm hasn't liked any of my motherboards, that's why I don't like this method. Personal preference.

The hotswap trick is not full proof. I have a version 6 which is the last model that Microsoft came out with before the 360 (I found out by comparing the date and serial codes on a website). I could never get the hotswap trick to work for me but I was successful in using 007 Agent Under Fire to install UnleashX.

Yeah, I agree. Xboxhdm has never worked properly for me, failing to load, bricked a hard drive, etc.

Yeah, I know. I used to have one with a 250GB HDD installed. I absolutely loved it. Used to play Mame on it all the time.
