Gears of War is choppy

Hey Team,

I bought Gears of War for PC and found that the game is choppy.

I run Quad Core 2
3GB of Ram
8800GTS 320mb

So I don't think it's my computer. I have looked but are there any patches other than the LIVE fix out there?

What resolution/detail, AA etc, are you using?

Gears of war should have an autoupdater, check that. Also, GoW is a direct port, and it really shows when it comes to performance.

I tri-booted on the machine between XP 32-bit, Vista 64-bit and Kubuntu 32-bit at one point

Crysis + very high patch runs better than Vista in native DX10 mode.... so nyah!!!

And Gears suffers from the same problem as Lost Planet... it's a console port.

DX10 is horrible though

Then DX10 = Vista. DX9 = XP.

So the equation goes like this:

XP > Vista.

XP may have been crap in the beginning but now it is full of win... for th most part. Some of my old DOS games won't run.

Anyways, Vista is crap, KTHNXBAI.

erm, not really. DX10 =/= Vista, it can easily be turned off.
