    Default PS3 Questions

Just got one of these for CHristmas.. curious about some things.

    1. Is there any way to increase the text size in games? Some of them are painfully small.

    2. How does one pirate games for the PS3? It uses blu-rays, so would I have to get a blu ray burner and expensive disks?

I don't have a PS3, but I may be able to help with the first question.

I'm assuming that you have it hooked up to an HDTV with either a Component Cable (Red, Green, Blue <and> Red, White) or an HDMI Cable.

If so, there should be an option in the PS3's Menu to set the output resolution.
    Try each of these:
    480i (Standard Definition)
    480p (HD)
    720p (HD)
    1080i (HD)
1080p (HD ~ Not all HDTVs support this one)

However, if you are using Composite Video (Yellow Red and White) or S-Video, you are stuck only sending 480i over that.

If you don't have an HDTV, you are probably using Composite Video (Yellow) or S-Video, and are stuck at 480i.

I don't know witch cables came with your PS3, but if you have an HDTV, you really should use either a Component Cable (Red, Green, Blue <and> Red, White) or an HDMI Cable.

Here are some links to help ya out:
Official Sony PlayStation 3 Component Video Cable
Official Sony PlayStation 3 HDMI Cable

If it were my choice, I'd go with the Component Video Cable, but then again, that's because I have one for the PS2 and from what I've read, it's also compatible with the PS3. Ohn and it outputs the same resolutions as the HDMI Cable, but it is like half the price of the HDMI cable.

    Amazon.ca (Canada) has the following:
Playstation 3 ASiD Tech Component Cable w/Optical Cable CDN$ 15.00 (It also has standard RCA Stereo cables so no worries)
    Sony Playstation 3 HDMI/USB 2.0 Cable Pack CDN$ 49.99

You might find a better deal at another store ~ to be honest, I'm not really familiar with canadian stores, so I can't really be of much help reccomending one other than amazon.

Bah. Okay, well.. here's a couple more.

    3. Can the PS3 use stuff such as torrents or winrar? (doubt it, but hey XD)

    4. Does anyone know of some websites where I can get anime via direct download that doesn't go through megaupload or any of those sites? Essentially, something I can go to via the PS3.

I think you're taking their "The PS3 is a computer" thing too literally.

If you install Linux, you can do all of that. Without Linux, youll be downloading it on your PC, make sure its in xvid or divx (most probably) and then transfer / stream it over

Every game has been backed up but they are not playable as of yet.

    The TIFF 'exploit' was fake.
