We have now found a way to modify your preexisting PAL/Spanish BIOS to a normal NTSC/English BIOS, better yet, any combination you want with even more languages to choose from!!

    I. What you need:
    - Hex Editor (Choose Between: Hex WorkShop | XVI32)

    II. Unzip Sega DreamCast Bios
Unzip the Sega DreamCast Bios if you haven't before (If you have already done this step if you played Chankast already, skip this step, if this is your first time with it all, keep reading) using WinRAR.

III. Open the Hex Editor (either Hex Workshop or XVI32 is best)
Open dc_flash.bin, then Search down through the file for "211Dreamcast" (its about 4/5 of the way into the file, just before a list of the japanese developers' names). Change that 211Dreamcast to 121Dreamcast. That string appears twice. That string appears twice. It worked with just one changed, but its probably a good idea to change both instances.

    IV. Save the DreamCast Bios
Save the bios over the prexesiting original, we also recommend you keep a backup of the original just incase you mess up.

    V. Congratulations!
Your bios is now a normal NTSC (with the Red Swirl, PAL is with the Blue Swirl) and it's in English too! If you would like to request a different language or combination, reply to this post and we can help you out.

Notes: To change it to other languages yourself, you have to change the second digit to other numbers (either with the prexisting PAL combination or NTSC combination). Feel free to play around with it. We can't guarentee if this won't screw up playability with other games or make it any better, so try it out both ways (original and your own) and see how it is.

    Region change for dc_flash.bin:
When you go to pos. 0x1A002, with an Hex editor, you can change it to:
0x30: Japan region (NTSC, Orange swirl),
0x31: USA region (NTSC, Orange swirl),
    0x32: Euro (Pal, Blue swirl)
    Found this somewhere.

oh, that article. thanks. the truth here is at one point i had a PAL bios, but used that method to convert it to an NTSC. i just needed to know what the characters were to change them back. (yes, i didn't make a backup)

EDIT: oh yes, and my apologies to pianokeysplayin for hijacking his thread

It seems that the 4 disk version is prone to more black screens than the ech version T-T. (I can't even get past the "going to Pirate Isle" thing.) Also I'm guessing you need a boot disk if I want the 4disk to work for nulldc, no? (One more thing, is there a way to see the VMU screen for nulldc? Or even the sound?)

Which version of NullDC are you using? 1.0 or 1.6?

Because I tried it with 1.0 and it seemed to work fine.
And I didn't need a boot disc either.

I've tried to get the VMU screen to show, but I can't, so I don't think they've added it yet.

For sound, if it's set to Empty Aica plugin, then you won't get sound.

    1.6 I guess.

(I downloaded it from the link you gave to me.)

Try changing which video/audio plugin you're using with 1.6 (Options > Select plugins)

If after trying different combinations of video/audio plugins, you still have problems, then try this older version of NullDC:
    http://emudev.com/funstuff/nullDC_100b1_setup.rar

With the older version, you'll need XPadder to use your gamepad with it:

    Okay, this is getting annoying

I tried the 1.0 version of null dc (and am using the 4disk version) and every time I try to run disk1a, it goes to the music thing of the DC.

    The plugins are:

    PowerVR:
    nullPVR -- direct3D hal

    GDRom:
Image Reader plugin drk||Raziel & GigaHerz

    AICA:
    nullAICA

    Edit:
Maybe its my bios, am going to try changing my bios (I was using the one I got from hear, now am going to try the one you gave to omega)

    Edit2:
the PAL = either the US or EU bios right? >< (I hate being clueless)

    Edit3:
It isn't the Bios thing, (I've tried combining the respective bios with their respective flashes.) and it still goes to the music thing. (I guess it needs a boot cd?)

Then I tried that and it still goes to the music section of the dc (I think I'm destined not to finish/play this game XD)

    Waitaminute.

Did you already try ChanKast with the 4 disc version?

Because maybe that's the emulator that I got it working on when I tested it a few months ago.

Sorry, but I just don't remember now which emulator I got it working, ChanKast or NullDC.

I just know I got it working on one of them at least, or I wouldn't have kept the 4 disc version.

For the 4 disc version, you might need to use the NTSC/US bios.
