Default Minimum specs for mame games

Hi I'm asking this because I basically have a few dud pcs in my room at the moment and between programming and fixing up stuff I thought it would be a laugh to create a arcade set up (joysticks and all) but I'm just curious about a few things such as ram needed and processor speed, also considering what type of games I could run on there. Sorry about the poor wording, its been a while since I made a proper inquiry

Dunno. Maybe the Mame site has that info, you drunkard.

I suggest that you throw together an old-school Mame set-up. Like, you can play Pac-Man and Donkey Kong on it and shit. But really, check out the Mame site and see what they say about it.

I was thinking of starting off small and gradually getting better spec games to see if I can break it.

    It depends on the game.

Some games, it doesn't matter how powerful your computer is.
You will not get decent speeds.

My guess, since you didn't list your comps' specs, is that it'll be able to play 85-95% of the games that MAME lists as playable, at reasonable speeds.

I have a few comps you see which I'm just going to put together at some point, its more of a small project, I've found a few cool things on some ebay shops such as arcade buttons and sticks, though I think that might be bothersome to integrate. I reckon if I can get one game working on there it should be ok (Pacman).

    LoL.

I'm pretty sure Pac-Man will run fine on whatever comp you try.

A cheap amd64 or a p4 will emulate most at 60frames. IF looking to recycle an old 1ghz it will play a large amount of games still.
