we are also getting vista and i know some games don't work on vista. so will my roms work on it. LUCKILY i saved all my roms to my flash drive BUT my everything ele is gone even my current saves i was using and my homework
    so will my roms work

    i have
    PSX emu
    VBA
    Chankast
    ZSNES
    FCE Ultra
    and a dreamcast 1

will they still work with vista?

Chankast won't work . . . try out nullcast, i think that should work but haven't messed with it yet. Everything else is a go.

Most should work with no problems whatsover. You could always try and run them in a compatibility layer if they don't.

@Crow - Are you sure about chankast? I just ran it with no problems, perhaps you ran on it on an earlier, less mature vista. :\

Hmm . . . maybe chankast will work. Could of swore I read that somewhere and I did try it out and it didn't work tell well for me, probably doing some wrong. Guess chankast should work in vista then, but nullcast doesn't looks so bad though.

Nothing works on Vista, if you believe anything posted on Slashdot.

Here's a similar thread that listed 7 different emulators that work on vista, including most of the ones you have listed. http://www.epforums.org/emulation-vi...ors+work+vista

Since I posted there, I've had FCEUltra work on Vista with no problems as well.

It depends on more than just whether you've got Vista, but pretty much any modern emulator will work without any trouble on a new system, barring any funky hardware. The main exception is ePSXe, which frequently throws a fit on dual-core systems unless you make certain that it's only assigned to one core.

I'm not sure if this method of fixing epsxe's dual-core problem works with Vista, but it does for XP:

Vista has quite a different command-line interface, so there's a good chance that program will no longer work.

I should be picking up a new PC sometime in the next few days, so I'll give it all a test then if no-one else knows.

I've had no problems running ePSXe on Vista Home Premium. I played Parappa the Rapper just fine a few months ago.

Before you buy a comp, make sure you tell us what spec you are getting.
No point buying stuffs you don't use. You won't get cheated if you know what you are going to get too.

Isn't your dad like no roms plz.

So he can stash all his porn on it without you knowing.

    Dirty bastard.

"250G" and "Vista" tells us a lot about how powerful this computer's gonna be!1
