bullshit. it teaches them that there's a consequence to their actions. it's just a matter of making the punishment fit the kid, adn finding out what it takes to make them learn. for pre-teens, pain works well. teenagers like socializing, so ground them to the house for a few weeks. for anyone old enough to drive, take away the keys to the car.
