Default Problem with Final Fantasy 9

I'm on disk4 towards the beginning of memoria, after fighting a chaos guardian when i go into the bit with Alexandria Castle and Dagger asks why the castle is there the screen just go black. I've tried both 1.6 and 1.5.2 and they both have the same problem, any ideas?

    Get these video plugins:
    http://www.pbernert.com/html/gpu.htm#OGL

Unzip them into ePSXe's plugin folder.
After adding them, go to Config > Video > Choose the D3D or OpenGL one > Configure.

Then set your video plugin as shown here:
    http://www.lordkane.co.uk/ff9.php

Also get Eternal SPU from here:
    http://www.emuxhaven.net/pluginpsx.shtml#audio

And set it, as shown on that page, too.

it doesn't appear to have solved it, ill admit there's a high possibility of me doing something badly wrong

btw i don't know if this makes any difference but im using the iso that's on the emuparadise site, not the actual disc

That shouldn't have made a difference. I mean no offense with this question, but you did select that plugin to be used, right?

    Try PSXeven then:
    http://batard.psxfanatics.com/

Copy your memcard files to PSXeven's memcard folder, and you'll be able to resume your game from where you last saved.
