    Default Favorite Game Of Choice

What's everyone's favorite game, and why? Be specific. You can also list your favorite game from differen genre's if you'd like. =]

My favorite RPG of all time is Grandia II. If you haven't tried it, you're missing out. It has an amazing story line, awesome characters, beautiful graphics, fun gameplay, exciting battle style and an original piece of a beautiful RPG. Dreamcast's finest. I played it back in the day, and I'm replaying it now. If you don't have an emu and can play it now, buy it on a real dreamcast or ps2. I always felt the FF series left something out, and this patches that feeling for some reason. It's a different game at heart, but a lot of the same elements are there and then some. I don't know anything about the first grandia or grandia x or grandia 3/4, but grandia 2 is something that'll stick with you much like any FF game will.

    Action/Adventure: Super Metroid (SNES)
This game terrified me at first and I didn't really give it a chance until I was around twelve. Love it now though.

Fighting: Street Fighter II': Special Champion Edition (Mega Drive/Genesis)
Technically inferior to the SNES version but this is my favourite SFII port, can't really explain why.

    FPS: Quake (PC)
    Best game in the series.

Platform: Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
    Hasn't been bettered since.

Point & Click Adventure: Secret of Monkey Island (PC)
I'm a huge fan of the Monkey Island series and still play the first two on a regular basis.

Racing: three-way tie between Sega Rally (Saturn), Ridge Racer Type 4 (PSX) and Top Gear (SNES)
    Love all three.

    RPG: Deus Ex (PC)
A thing of beauty. Not the most conventional RPG but consider this: it's been over seven years and I've yet to play another game that gives you anywhere near this much freedom over how your character develops. Not only that but it's nigh-on impossible to "break" the game - you can kill major characters and the story will branch off and carry on regardless. Perfection.

    RPG- Star Ocean 2
    Action/adventure- Shadowrun (genesis version)
    FPS- Deus Ex
Adventure- Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers.
    Platformer- Cave Story
Game with a political message and morality- Freedom Fighters
Mixed genre game that deserves mention anyway- Psychonauts
As I was walking down the stair,
    I met a man who wasn't there.
    He wasn't there again today.
    I wish, I wish he'd go away.

    Absolute favorite/RPG: Chrono Trigger.
Puzzle: Tie between Tetris Attack and Super Puzzle Fighter II
I can't really decide among the other genres though...

Oh I forgot about grandia, another thing I love about it, is the fact you can see the monsters. You don't get annoying random battles, you can avoid them, sneak up behind them, or get surprised if you're not careful.

    (DC) Grandia II - (duh)
(PSX) Final Fantasy 9 - Amazing everything, my favorite out of the series.
(PS2) Final Fantasy X - I love this game. It wasn't the best maybe or that revolutionary, but the graphics were great and the story was badass.
(NES) Super Mario Bros 3 - First game I beat, i think i was 4-5? So fun
(SNES) Zelda: Link to the past- First game i got for it, my mom helped me read most of it so i could comprehend it, I was 4, and it came with the system, it made me love zelda.
(N64) Zelda: OOT - Do I even have to explain?
(Xbox) Halo - C'mon, xbox really doesn't have a better game. Things are cliche for a reason.
    (360) Halo 3 - ^
(Wii) Zelda - I only played a few hours of it, so i didn't get far, but it was fun and beautiful, I'm sure better than the others.
(Cube) Smash Bros melee - Fun game, loved the 64 version as a kid
(PS3) Never played it more than 10min.
(Game boys) Pokemon Games - Kiddie, but fun and entertaining. Gets you addicted like crack.

Ones that come to mind are:

    Platformer:
Gunstar Heroes, Genesis. (There's also Hard Corps, what with the many endings...)
    Megaman X, Snes.
    Megaman 2, Nes.
    Castlevania: SotN, Playstation.

    RPG:
Lufia II, Snes. (maybe not, but the main ones have already been mentioned, so up yours, redundancy!)
    Phantasy Star IV, Genesis.
    Valkyrie Profile, Playstation.
Xenosaga trilogy, Playstation 2. (Yes, three, because I can.)

    Strategy RPG:
    Shining Force II, Genesis.
    Final Fantasy Tactics, Playstation.

    Beat em' Up:
    Streets of Rage II, Genesis.
    Guardian Heroes, Saturn.

    Adventure:
    Secret of Mana, Snes.
    Crusader of Centy, Genesis.
    Alundra I-II, Playstation.
Shadow of the Colossus, Playstation 2. (Myeah, not sure it fits in here, but anyway. No replay value, though, which blows.)

    Point & Click Adventure:
Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders, Commodore 64.

    That's it for now.

Oh yeah, I'm totally adding Pokemon Yellow in there as one of my all-time favourites.. They should remake that one aswell.

That'd be badass if they made a pokemon game, like the GB games, but with good graphics/3D. Imagine that.

    Action - Ninja Gaiden Black
    Racing - Gran Turismo 2
    Rhythm - DDR Max 2
Fighting - Capcom vs. SNK 2
    RPG - Star Wars KOTOR
FPS - As of right now it is a tie between Halo 1 and Halo 3. I can't say Halo 3 yet because I have only been able to play about half of a 1v1 game split screen in multi-player. No I did not get caught up in the hype at all.
    Platformer - Mega Man 2

I really like Grandia 2 as well mydyingautumn - I had it on the DC back in the day as well. I later purchased the PC version too!!!

It's hard to pick fave games namely because I like so many and when I pick one, I always think of something later on that I like better and even depends on my mood too. But here's just a few not really based on genre

    HitMan Blood Money
    FFtactics, 9, 10, 12
    GTA San Andreas
    Jak & Daxter (the first)
    Soul Calibre 3
    X-men legends 2
    Marvel vs Capcom 2
    any street fighter
Resident evil remake of 1, Res 4 and code veronica which I had for the DC and seemed actually better on that system, the load times weren't as bad and I somehow remember even the graphics looked a bit crisper.
    Starwars Battle Front 2
Tie Fighter for PC circa 1995
Any old sierra game, kings quest, leisure suit larry etc
Zelda link to the past, OOT and windwaker
Mario sunshine, and the snes mario world
    mariokart 64
    Halflife
    Timesplitters 3

shit this could go forever, see what I mean?
