Not the right album to hear if you want to actually give them a fair chance. The first two albums, For All Tid and Stormblast, were tolerable melodic black metal (not groundbreaking efforts like In The Nightside Eclipse and Transylvanian Hunger or the peak of an established style like Blood in our Wells and Salvation, but few albums achieve that). Everything afterwards was part of a downward slide culminating in the waste of effort that is PEM and the parody they've been ever since.

    np Sonic Youth - Becuz

I'm listening to all their new albums mainly to hear how they used Vortex's godly vocals, and needless to say his talent is wasted in such a band. His work in Arcturus and Lamented Souls is magnificent. It is shameful to see him degrade himself with DB.

For All Tid is perhaps the only Dimmu album I'm keeping, since it's the most tolerable of their shit (it's quite good actually.) I've heard black metal done way better (Abigor, Drudkh (whom you've mentioned), Dub Buk and Taake,) but then again, I've definitely heard much worse.

Motley Crue - Don't Go Away Mad

Stormblast is really good. And its the only album I've bought for myself (got In Sorte Diaboli from my girlfriend so that doesn't count), and they've definately gotten worse.

    They bored me at Wacken.
